A few weekends ago we took a trip down to the Dominion Arboretum in Ottawa. It was so beautiful, I feel like I did such a terrible job capturing everything! Oh well, hopefully I’ll get back there one day. And not in the middle of a bright sunny day! Although it was gorgeous for walking around, it was really hard to take nicely lit photos.
I absolutely love willow trees! The Dominion Arboretum is full of them and I couldn’t get enough.
There were so many bridges too! And all so pretty and picturesque. This is the only bridge photo that I ended up liking from that afternoon. It’s also really hard to get nice bridge photos when there are constantly people walking around!
I’d never seen these flowers or trees before. They’re called catalpa trees and were so amazing! I’m glad we got to see them in bloom!
We also came across this heron hanging out near one of the rivers running through the park. When we first saw it, it had just had a successful hunt and was eating a fish. We hoped it would catch another while we were watching, but apparently it just felt like posing for my camera!
There also lots of these flowering rush, which after further research are actually invasive! I don’t know if they were planted there on purpose, or if they’ve just popped up themselves. Either way, they were very pretty!
If you’re in the Ottawa area and want to visit the Dominion Arboretum, it’s part of the Experimental Farm in Ottawa!
